Hausmann Is New Port Director – February 13, 2008

Charles R. Hausmann has been appointed Port Director for the Port of Port Lavaca-Point Comfort by the Calhoun Port Authority Board of Directors.

Mr. Hausmann served as deputy port director from May 2000 until being named interim port director in June 2007. As deputy director his responsibilities included port finance and administration. He led the effort to implement elaborate new port security measures during the past few years in the wake of potential new threats and to comply with changing federal regulations. He also represented the port authority in dealings with federal, state and local officials.

Mr. Hausmann spent 13 years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency which manages farm commodity, credit, conservation, disaster and loan programs designed to improve agricultural industry stability. He is a certified public accountant, earned a masters degree in business administration from the University of Houston and is a graduate of Texas A&M University.

Forrest Hawes has been named as deputy port director. Mr. Hawes is a long-time resident of the Matagorda Bay Area and has 22 years of business administrative experience. Most recently he was Vice President and CFO of Wenaas AGS, Inc., a global industrial Uniform and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) supply company. He is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with BBA degree in Accounting.
