INEOS Will Expand Calhoun County Plant - Feb. 24, 2007
INEOS, a major shipper through the Port of Port Lavaca-Point Comfort, has announced plans to expand its manufacturing facility at Green Lake in western Calhoun County.
The firm will build an additional reactor unit, making the local facility the largest manufacturer of acrylonitrile in the world. Construction of the expansion project is expected to be complete in 2008.
INEOS is connected to the port's deepwater terminal by dedicated pipelines which run across the county. This allows delivery of feedstocks and direct export of acrylonitrile to markets around the world. Acrylonitrile is used in a broad array of products including carpeting, fibers, rigid plastics, rubber and coatings.
