Aron Luna Appointed to Fill Board Opening - Nov. 18, 2010
Port Lavaca businessman Aron Luna has been appointed to fill the Port Authority board position vacated by the death of commissioner Roger Martinez.
Mr. Luna is active in several businesses including Guarantee Shoes located on Virginia Street.
He now represents District 5 located in the center of the City of Port Lavaca. The geographic area within the Port Authority's boundaries covers most of Calhoun County and is divided into six single-member districts from which port board members are elected on a staggered basis to four-year terms.
Mr. Martinez, 73, was a longtime Port Authority board member. Before his retirement he was owner of Martinez Trucking, had been a superintendent for Brown & Root, and a supervisor for Gulf Coast Maintenance.
